To create a path to self-sufficiency for maintaining and restoring balance, and to provide temporary and transitional housing alternatives for victims of domestic violence and their minor children and disabled-children and all veterans.
To provide targeted, rapid rehousing services by eliminating barriers facing clients we serve.
In a time where communities have a surge in homelessness, we see a need and have a calling to open our hearts to help. Homelessness is growing in many parts of the world, occurs in all nations, and has severe negative impacts on individuals, families, and on communities. Our founder saw the need and took action out of the trunk of her car. This is where it all began.
Women of Esther (W.O.E.) Ministries has been serving Chicago communities for the past 16-years.
It all began out of the trunk of the founder’s car. She saw a need and had the heart and desire to meet the needs of others (one person and one community at a time).
W.O.E. fed the hungry and homeless in Roseland for over 10-years, serving over 15,000 meals and we partnered with churches in West Lawndale and Auburn Gresham serving an additional 4,000 meals. We also helped them develop sustainable outreach initiatives.
In light of current events (e.g., the pandemic), over 18 million unemployment benefit claims for 1/30/2021, coupled with the temporary expiration of the federal mortgage/rental moratoriums, states, cities, and towns will see a surge in homelessness rates.
Again, W.O.E. wants to do its part by offering emergency housing alternatives for people and families experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to provide a safe night’s rest to 8,050 homeless Chicagoans annually.
